AI-Enabled Attack

An AI-enabled attack is a threat in which someone uses artificial intelligence tools or models to plan, execute, or scale a cyberattack or fraud scheme more effectively than traditional methods would allow. This might include using AI to generate convincing phishing emails at volume, identify vulnerabilities in systems faster, or automate social engineering campaigns that adapt in real time. For governance and compliance teams, these attacks matter because they are harder to detect and defend against with legacy controls, they can evade detection systems trained on older attack patterns, and they demand faster incident response and updated security policies that account for AI-driven threats.
