AI Software Supply Chain
The AI software supply chain covers every outside component that goes into building or running an AI system, including pre-trained models, open-source libraries, datasets, plugins, and hosted AI services. It matters for governance because a weakness or tampered component anywhere in that chain can end up inside a company's products without its own engineers ever writing the faulty code. Compliance and risk teams need to know where these components come from, who maintains them, and what contractual and security assurances apply to each one.
