Attack Surface

Attack surface refers to the totality of vulnerabilities, entry points, and weak links in an AI system that malicious actors or unintended interactions could exploit. In enterprise AI governance, understanding and minimizing attack surface is critical because AI systems handle sensitive data, make high-stakes decisions, and often integrate across multiple business systems and external interfaces. Organizations must identify exposed APIs, model inputs, data pipelines, and user access points, then implement controls to reduce exploitability and strengthen defenses against both adversarial attacks and accidental misuse.
