Coercive AI Adoption
Coercive AI adoption refers to situations where employees, contractors, customers, or other affected people are pushed to use AI tools through pressure rather than genuine choice. This can take the form of mandatory AI use quotas, performance reviews that penalize people for not using a tool, or workflows that make AI output the default with no practical way to opt out. For governance teams, it matters because forced use can create liability around consent, worker rights, data handling, and accountability for errors the workforce had no real say in.
