Control Ownership

Control ownership refers to the assignment of clear, named accountability for each safeguard that governs an AI system, such as who maintains a bias test, who approves a model change, or who reviews an access log. In enterprise AI governance, it matters because regulators and auditors increasingly ask not just whether a control exists but who answers for it when it fails. Organizations that leave controls without a documented owner often discover gaps only after an incident or examination.
