Credential Exfiltration
Credential exfiltration refers to the unauthorized extraction or theft of authentication credentials like API keys, passwords, tokens, and access certificates from AI systems or their supporting infrastructure. This threat is particularly critical in AI governance because compromised credentials can grant attackers direct access to models, training data, and sensitive deployments, bypassing security controls and audit trails. Organizations must implement credential management policies, rotation schedules, and detection mechanisms to prevent exfiltration and limit the blast radius if theft occurs.
