Embodied AI
Embodied AI refers to artificial intelligence systems that operate through physical bodies, such as robots, autonomous vehicles, drones, and industrial machines that sense and act in the real world. Unlike software that only generates text or images, these systems can cause physical harm, damage property, or disrupt operations, which brings product liability, workplace safety, and insurance obligations into play. For compliance and risk teams, embodied AI raises questions about safety certification, incident reporting, and who is accountable when a machine's learned behavior leads to injury.
