Employee Offboarding

Employee offboarding is the process of revoking an departing worker's access to company systems, data, and accounts, and it carries specific AI governance risk when staff have used or connected AI tools. Departing employees may still hold active logins to AI platforms, API keys tied to company accounts, or access to proprietary data fed into internal models or AI assistants. Compliance teams need offboarding checklists that cover these AI-specific access points, since a missed credential can leave confidential information exposed long after the employee has left.
