Forcepoint X-Labs published research demonstrating that hidden HTML styling can embed prompt injection instructions inside an email, causing an AI email summarizer to produce entirely falsified output. In ten out of ten controlled tests, the injected model altered dates and omitted names while the visible email appeared nearly unchanged. Enterprises using AI tools to process inbound email have no standard control requiring that AI-generated summaries be validated against the original message content.
