Guardrail Design

Guardrail design refers to the practice of building safety controls into AI systems so they stay within defined limits, such as blocking harmful outputs, restricting access to sensitive data, or routing risky requests to human review. For compliance and risk leaders, these controls are the concrete evidence regulators and auditors look for when asking how an organization prevents its AI from causing harm. Reviewing how guardrails are specified, tested, and monitored helps determine whether an AI deployment can be defended under emerging rules and internal policies.
