Identity Delegation

Identity delegation refers to arrangements where an AI agent or automated system acts on a person's behalf, using that person's permissions, accounts, or credentials to access systems and take actions. It matters for enterprise governance because it blurs the line between who did something and what the software did, making it harder to attribute actions, enforce least-privilege access, and show auditors a clear chain of accountability. Compliance and risk teams need to know which agents hold delegated authority, how far that authority extends, and how it can be revoked.
