Offensive AI Capabilities

Offensive AI capabilities refers to the use of artificial intelligence to carry out or scale cyberattacks, fraud, and other hostile operations, such as generating convincing phishing messages, cloning executive voices for payment scams, or finding software flaws faster than defenders can patch them. For compliance and risk leaders, this category matters because it shifts the threat baseline: attacks that once required skilled human operators can now be run at volume by less capable actors. It also raises questions about what an organization's own vendors, employees, and AI tools could be misused to do, and how far existing security controls and incident response plans still hold.
