RACI Accountability

RACI accountability is a governance framework that clarifies roles and responsibilities by assigning four distinct designations to stakeholders: Responsible (who does the work), Accountable (who owns the outcome), Consulted (who provides input), and Informed (who receives updates). In AI governance, RACI matrices help organizations ensure clear ownership of critical decisions like model validation, bias testing, and compliance monitoring, reducing confusion about who makes final decisions and who bears accountability when issues arise. This structured approach is essential for managing the complexity of AI projects where multiple teams (data science, legal, ethics, operations) must coordinate effectively to meet regulatory requirements and maintain governance oversight.
