Regulatory Signals

Regulatory signals are early indicators that a government body, regulator, or standards organization is moving toward new or changed rules for AI systems. They include draft guidance, consultation papers, enforcement actions, speeches by officials, and proposed legislation that has not yet taken effect. For compliance and risk teams, these signals matter because they show where obligations are heading, giving organizations time to adjust policies, vendor contracts, and documentation before a rule becomes binding.
