Supply Chain Breach
A supply chain breach happens when attackers compromise a trusted vendor, software library, or service provider so they can reach the customers who depend on it, rather than attacking those customers directly. In AI, this risk is growing because organizations routinely pull in pre-trained models, open-source packages, datasets, and third-party AI APIs that they did not build and cannot fully inspect. For governance and compliance teams, the question is whether they can identify which suppliers touch their AI systems, verify what they are installing, and respond quickly when a supplier is compromised.
