Third-Party Assurance

Third-party assurance is the practice of having an independent outside party review, test, or certify an AI system, vendor, or internal control, and report whether it meets stated standards. For enterprise AI governance, it gives boards, regulators, and customers evidence that claims about fairness, security, or data handling were checked by someone other than the company making them. Common forms include independent audits, certification against recognized frameworks, and attestation reports that a buyer can request from an AI vendor before signing a contract.
