Use-Case Classification

Use-case classification is the practice of sorting an AI system by what it is used for and how much risk that use carries, which then determines what rules apply to it. The EU AI Act, for example, sets different obligations depending on whether a system falls into a prohibited, high-risk, limited-risk, or minimal-risk category, so getting this label wrong can mean either unnecessary cost or an unmet legal duty. For compliance teams, the practical question is whether the same underlying model becomes a regulated product once it is applied to hiring, credit, healthcare, or another sensitive decision.
