AI-Assisted Attack
AI-assisted attack refers to cyberattacks in which criminals or state actors use artificial intelligence tools to write malicious code, craft convincing phishing emails, generate deepfake voices or video, or speed up reconnaissance against target organizations. For compliance and risk teams, the concern is that these tools lower the skill and cost needed to run effective attacks, which raises the likelihood of fraud, data theft, and social engineering incidents that can trigger breach notification duties and regulatory scrutiny. Governance programs should treat AI-enabled threats as a reason to strengthen payment verification, employee identity checks, and incident response plans.
