AI Governance Framework
An AI governance framework is a structured set of policies, roles, processes, and controls an organization uses to decide how it develops, buys, deploys, and monitors AI systems responsibly. Well-known examples include the NIST AI Risk Management Framework from the US National Institute of Standards and Technology and ISO/IEC 42001, an international management system standard for AI that organizations can be certified against. For compliance and legal teams, these frameworks matter because they give regulators, auditors, and customers a recognized benchmark, and they often map onto obligations under laws such as the EU AI Act.
