Algorithmic Accountability
Algorithmic accountability refers to the requirement that organizations can explain, justify, and take responsibility for the decisions made by their AI systems. It matters for enterprise AI governance because it ensures that automated decision-making processes affecting customers, employees, or stakeholders can be audited, traced, and corrected when they produce harmful or discriminatory outcomes. Without accountability mechanisms, organizations face regulatory violations, reputational damage, and inability to identify or remediate bias in their AI systems.
