Authorization Bypass

An authorization bypass is a flaw that lets someone get access to data or actions they were never permitted to use, usually by skipping or tricking the check that is supposed to confirm their permissions. In AI systems this can happen when an assistant, plugin, or agent acts with broader access than the user who is asking, so a person can reach records or tools they should not see. For compliance and risk teams, these incidents often translate directly into data exposure, breach notification duties, and questions about whether access controls were actually working as documented.
