Cloud Compliance

Cloud compliance refers to the practice of ensuring that an organization's use of cloud computing services meets the legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations that apply to its data and operations. For AI governance teams, it matters because AI systems are often built and run on third-party cloud platforms, which means training data, model outputs, and customer information may be stored or processed in regions and under terms that trigger privacy, data residency, and sector-specific rules. Compliance officers and risk managers typically track this through shared responsibility agreements with cloud providers, audit reports such as SOC 2, and certifications like ISO/IEC 27001, which show what the provider controls and what the customer must still manage.
