Deployer Accountability

Deployer accountability refers to the obligations placed on organizations that put AI systems into real use, as distinct from the companies that build the underlying models. Under frameworks such as the EU AI Act, a deployer must assess risks, ensure human oversight, keep logs, and inform affected people when a high-risk system is used on them. For compliance and legal teams, this shifts responsibility to the business that controls how the system is applied, so they cannot rely on a vendor's assurances alone to meet their own regulatory duties.
