Election Interference
Election interference refers to deliberate efforts by state actors, criminal groups, or other organizations to distort voting, public opinion, or electoral outcomes, and AI now lowers the cost of these campaigns considerably. Generative tools can produce convincing fake audio, video, and news articles at scale, and automated accounts can amplify them faster than fact-checkers can respond. For enterprises, the relevance lies in brand and platform exposure, since companies hosting user content, running political advertising, or supplying AI models may face regulatory scrutiny, reputational harm, and new obligations under election-related laws in the EU and elsewhere.
