Misuse Risk
Misuse risk refers to the danger that an AI system is used deliberately to cause harm, such as generating fraud content, producing malicious code, or helping someone plan an attack, rather than failing on its own. For enterprise leaders, it matters because the organization can be held responsible when its tools, APIs, or products are abused by employees, customers, or outside actors. Managing it typically involves usage policies, access controls, monitoring for abuse patterns, and documented safeguards that regulators and auditors can review.
