Inference Infrastructure

Inference infrastructure is the set of servers, GPUs, serving software, and cloud services that run trained AI models and produce their outputs when users or applications send requests. It matters for governance because this layer is where a model's decisions actually happen at scale, so it determines who can access the system, where customer data flows, how usage is logged, and whether the system stays available. Compliance teams often find that the real risk exposure sits here rather than in the model itself, since misconfigured endpoints, shared hosting, or weak access controls can expose sensitive data or let outside parties misuse the system.
