Misinformation Risk

Misinformation risk refers to the chance that an AI system produces or spreads false or misleading content, whether through fabricated facts, convincing deepfakes, or confidently wrong answers that users act on. For enterprises, this exposes organizations to reputational damage, regulatory scrutiny, and liability when customers, employees, or the public rely on inaccurate AI outputs. Governance teams typically address it through output testing, human review for high-stakes content, clear disclosure of AI-generated material, and monitoring for emerging election, fraud, and impersonation threats.
