Research Integrity
Research integrity refers to the honesty, rigor, and accountability of how research is planned, conducted, reviewed, and reported, including the handling of data, authorship, and conflicts of interest. In AI governance, it matters because AI research increasingly shapes product claims, regulatory submissions, and public safety assurances, so flawed or selectively reported results can expose organizations to liability, misleading-marketing scrutiny, and reputational harm. Compliance and legal teams watch this area closely for issues such as undisclosed funding, irreproducible benchmark results, data leakage between training and test sets, and pressure on researchers to overstate findings.
