Procurement Controls

Procurement controls are the checks an organization applies when it buys or licenses AI tools, models, or services from vendors, such as reviewing data handling terms, security attestations, and model documentation before signing. For enterprise AI governance, they are where many risks get caught early, before a tool is embedded in business processes and before personal or regulated data has already flowed to a third party. Strong procurement controls also give compliance teams the evidence they need to show regulators that they assessed vendor risk at the point of purchase.
