Threat Modeling
Threat modeling is the practice of systematically identifying how a system could be attacked or misused, what damage could follow, and which safeguards should be built in before launch. For AI systems, it extends beyond traditional software risks to cover threats like prompt injection, where malicious text hidden in inputs manipulates a model into ignoring its instructions, and data poisoning, where tampered training data corrupts model behavior. Compliance and risk teams care about it because regulators and auditors increasingly expect documented threat models as evidence that an organization has anticipated foreseeable harms and acted on them.
