Workplace Accommodation

Workplace accommodation refers to changes an employer makes to a job, tools, or working conditions so that people with disabilities, health conditions, or religious needs can perform their work. When AI systems are used for hiring, performance review, scheduling, or monitoring, they can screen out or disadvantage these employees, creating legal exposure under laws such as the US Americans with Disabilities Act. Governance teams need to confirm that AI tools offer a route to request and receive accommodations, and that automated decisions do not penalize people for using them.
