Containment
In AI governance, containment refers to the set of technical and organizational controls that keep an AI system within defined operational boundaries, limiting what it can access, change, or do even if it behaves unexpectedly or is compromised. Examples include sandboxing, restricted permissions, kill switches, and monitored action limits. For compliance and risk teams, containment matters because it is often the evidence regulators and auditors ask for when they want to know how an organization would stop or limit a harmful AI failure.
