EDiscovery

eDiscovery is the process of identifying, preserving, collecting, and producing electronically stored information such as emails, chat messages, documents, and data in response to litigation, regulatory investigations, or audits. For AI governance, it matters because prompts, model outputs, training data, and AI-generated content can all become discoverable evidence, so organizations need to know where that material is kept and how long it persists. Failing to preserve or produce it can lead to sanctions, adverse inferences, or costly legal exposure.
