Certification
Certification refers to a formal assessment and verification that AI systems, processes, or organizations meet established standards for safety, security, ethics, or compliance. For enterprise governance, certifications provide third-party validation that risk management controls are in place and functioning, which helps demonstrate due diligence to regulators, customers, and boards. Common examples include ISO 42001 for AI management systems and AI Act conformity assessments in Europe, both of which establish benchmarks for responsible development and deployment that organizations can use to guide internal policies and prove accountability.
