Autonomous Penetration Testing

Autonomous penetration testing refers to security assessments in which AI agents independently probe systems for weaknesses, chaining together reconnaissance, exploitation attempts, and reporting with little or no human direction at each step. Penetration testing, sometimes called "pen testing," is a authorized simulated attack used to find flaws before criminals do. For governance teams, the concern is twofold: these tools can make security testing faster and cheaper, but the same capability can be turned against systems the tester does not own, so organizations need clear rules on scope, authorization, and human oversight.
